Purchasing products made in the United States can have a great effect on our economy. Whether youre looking for furniture or other home accessories, clothing or even just locally grown food, by investing in locally made products, youre actually investing in your home. It sounds a bit cheesy, almost cliche, in fact. However, the movement is growing and its no surprise that people are joining in. The number one reason to invest in these products, whether its furniture or food, is because youre truly investing in your own country. Secondly, if youre interested in following trends, youll be interested to know that by investing in locally made products, youre also investing in more eco-friendly practices.
Redecorating a room used to mean daunting choices, but not any more. For a bedroom, a rustic theme drew me to consider wrought iron products for new window treatments. Wrought iron home décor decision down, what next? I found a huge selection of ornamental iron products, including iron curtain rods and curtain accessories to satisfy my curiosity. The item that dominated my imagination was the iron curtain shelf bracket. As a woodworker and traveler with the US military, this offered me a vision of display of cultural or wood items I wanted to show off. Plus, iron curtain rods matched with other iron curtain accessories easily filled this home decorating void.
When arranging a space with accessories, one has to keep in mind that the most important thing to avoid here is boredom! This has a lot less to do with the objects you choose than how you choose to display them. To keep an arrangement from putting the neighbors down for their afternoon nap, remember to keep a balance of harmony (things that feel like they go together, like similar colors or styles) and contrast (things that spice things up by being different... smooth against texture, round against straight line, et... ) You want a bit of both in your arrangement. Perhaps you could create harmony by repeating a square shape or the color purple, and then add contrast by sitting a smooth candlestick next to a rough basket.
Many people around the United States are opting to swap out their foreign-made furniture, home accessories and other home decor items for locally made or made in the U.S.A. products. Unfortunately, dependence on foreign products has resulted in some shoddy workmanship for certain (but not all) products that are now being made (again) in the good ol U.S. of A. Here the low down on American-made home accessories and decor, including what you should look for and what you should steer clear of. Were all familiar with that little oval circle that says something along the lines of made in China, Taiwan, Thailand or some other far off exotic place. Many people today flip an item over and if they see that little sticker, or any other notion that the product has been made outside of the U.S.A., they set it down and walk away.
